Interview

The vocation of Doctor Robin Mookherjee as a cosmetic surgeon started very early on and he is happy to be still following it 30 years later. His operations and treatment all have a common goal: finding the best natural result. He closely follows the developments and innovations in his profession and in particular treatments which combine several techniques.

What treatments and surgical procedures do you perform?

I practice general cosmetic surgery as well as aesthetic medicine.

In terms of aesthetic medicine, I offer injections of hyaluronic acid, Botox and more. recently Sculptra for correction of lines and volumes. This is increasingly in demand they carry immediate results, very few risks and little recovery time and can precede or complement surgery.

In cosmetic surgery, I practice a natural looking surgery which is far from the trends and the dictates as we do not wish total transformation or alteration. I perform on the body, breasts and face with an emphasis on rejuvenation of the face. It can be challenging as you have to know how to respect the personality of the patient. I also perform many breast augmentation and body contouring which is a real aesthetic enhancing surgery.

Interview

Could you tell us about surgery for obesity called Bariatric surgery?

"In Sub Saharan Africa, 23% of Adult men and 30% of women suffer from excess weight or are obese. We expect this percentage to double in the next 20 years ".

Obesity has become in our time an epidemic in the world and constitutes a public health problem. We are already talking about a " Worldwide epidemic of obesity ".

It has been proved today and accepted that by reducing the weight of people who are overweight and obese, we can protect them against the numerous complications of obesity such as Arthritis, high blood pressure, cororony attacks, type 2 diabetes (diabetis non insulin dependent ) respiratory problems and sleeping disorders.

The surgical treatment for Obesity called bariatric surgery is in fact a major therapeutic advance and represents the only treatment which has proved its superiority in the improvement of life expectation for obese people.

The obesity surgery uses techniques such as the gastric ring, the gastrectomy sleeve or the bypass which are carried out by laparoscopy.

In addition to treating and preventing the complications already mentioned above, Obesity surgery improves the daily life of obese and overweight people as well as their family and social lives which can be affected by prejudice and the looks of others. It can considerably increase their self esteem.
